Welcome to our "Meet the Team" blog post series, where we introduce you to the amazing people behind our company! At Telerik Academy, our mission is to help people jumpstart or accelerate successful careers in the software industry, thus changing their lives and helping the sector grow. Our team is made up of passionate and dedicated individuals who work tirelessly to achieve this mission and make a positive impact in the IT industry.
So, who are the people that make up our team?
Meet Polya Vassileva, our Creative Director and Yasen Stoilov, Technical Trainer at Telerik Academy. We asked them a few questions so you could get to know them better.
Here's what they shared.
Meet Polya Vassileva, Creative Director
Can you explain as simply as possible what you do at Telerik Academy?
I design the website and the user interface for internal systems at Telerik Academy. As Creative Director, I am also responsible for all branding and marketing materials our small design team produces. A huge part of my job is being a lead trainer in the
Upskill UX/UI Design program, which inspires and motivates me daily.
What is your favorite part of your job?
Seeing the students' final projects and then watching them graduate and embark on meaningful and successful career journeys is extremely fulfilling to me. I also love making beautiful and, at the same time, functional things that impact people's lives in a positive and valuable way.
What is the last book you read?
I haven’t finished it because you never really finish a cookbook. Still, I am currently reading Eat Your Greens, which goes into the many different ways you can cook each vegetable that exists (in our culture) and some fruit. It’s helpful because you start with what you have at hand, and the book gives you ideas on how to prepare it instead of starting from a recipe and looking for and buying the ingredients from scratch. I am very conscious about low waste, seasonal food and healthy eating habits that don’t impact the environment.
Tell us one curious fact about you:
I carry my own bag, reusable coffee cup and water bottle everywhere, and I will fight and argue with grocery store cashiers and shop consultants for every useless piece of single-use plastic they want to give me. I have also burst into tears when a server brings me airan or ice latte or any drink with a plastic straw, which I have forgotten to ask them not to put in my glass. Don’t make more garbage in our world; recycling is not enough, and we must stop generating more waste!
Meet Yasen Stoilov, Technical Trainer
Can you explain as simply as possible what you do at Telerik Academy?
I mentor people through their journey into the immersive world of tech.
What is your favorite part of your job?
Seeing people conquer complex programming concepts is an infinite source of inspiration and fulfilment.
What is the last book you read?
The Institute by Stephen King. It manages to mix fantasy with the battle against evil in the modern world while keeping King's unmatched notion of mystery.
Tell us one curious fact about you:
Most recently, I went backpacking in Spain, where I hiked in the Tibidabo mountain and attended a football game.
We're incredibly proud of our team and the work they do each day. Stay tuned for our next blog post from this series, where you'll get to know more colleagues from our team.
